Meat and Potatoes

Nothing much to report here. Thought I’d share some fun lyrics from Belle and Sebastian:

My baby came to me lately
‘Honey, please don’t take this bad, but maybe
When you laid me
Could we try to spice it up?’

I looked across the table
First to see if she was joking
No joke
There was no flicker
Just a girl who wanted more

Than meat and potatoes
She may stop at whips and chains
She needs carousal
More arousal
A bit of pain

So we started by using handcuffs
We tried a can of cold whipped cream
I was allergic to so much dairy
She had to finish it all by herself

Then I slapped her
She wasn’t expecting
So she hit me back
She friggin’ cracked me
I got a nose bleed
She was angry
She wanted more

Than mean and potatoes
She may stop at pumps and drains!
She needs carousal
More arousal
A bit of pain

Invite the neighbours
Or total strangers
Give yourself a leg up, honey
Wear ‘The Queen’ mask
Put on the French basque
It’s full of handy holes
If we’re going to use them all
We’re going to need more than

Meat and potatoes!
She may draw the line at dolls and freaks
She needs some abusing
Some amusement
To get through the week

‘I know you respect me
You won’t reject me
And the arrow of our love is straight and true’

Music You’re Bound To Enjoy

Several years ago, I put together a mix of songs that seemed to be in some way related to bdsm and I called it “Music You’re Bound to Enjoy”. (You can tell this was a while ago by what songs were on the mix and the fact that it was a mix TAPE, not cd.) I’ve often thought that I’d like to expand the mix to include songs I didn’t have available at the time, and songs that are newer. The hard part is that some songs are good “mood music” pieces (i.e., “Venus in Furs” by the Velvet Underground) and others are kinda silly (“Hanky Panky” by Madonna, “Dominated Love Slave” by Green Day), so the mix is uneven as far as the mood. Anyway, here’s the list of songs that I either included on the original mix, wanted to include but didn’t have, or came across since then that would be good additions. You’ll see that Depeche Mode has cornered the market on bdsm songs. Some of the songs are truly about D/s and some are just ones that could be taken that way by people with dirty minds, like yours truly.

Master and Servant – Depeche Mode
Strangelove – Depeche Mode
Dressed in Black – Depeche Mode
Venus in Furs – Velvet Underground
Hanky Panky – Madonna (off the best-forgotten Dick Tracy soundtrack)
Dominated Love Slave – Green Day
These Boots are Made for Walking – Nancy Sinatra (I mean really, what sub wouldn’t tremble at the way she growls about walking all over you?)
Hurt So Good – John Cougar Mellencamp
Mini Correct – The Beautiful South
Frank’s Dark Past – Crowded House (obscure live track)

I padded the mix out with songs that are peripherally sexual or just have the right “mood”:

Tonight I Fancy Myself – The Beautiful South (about masturbation)
She’s Your Cocaine – Tori Amos
Try Whistling This – Neil Finn (“He said come here, as he pushed me down.”)
In My Command – Crowded House (“It’s a pleasure when you’re in my command.”)
Into Temptation – Crowded House
Justify My Love – Madonna
Fall at Your Feet – Crowded House
Sinner – Neil Finn
Erotica – Madonna
Icicle – Tori Amos (about masturbation)
Femme Fatale – Velvet Underground
Let’s Go to Bed – The Cure
Professional Widow – Tori Amos

I’m sure there’s more out there, and if anyone can come up with any I’d appreciate a comment letting me know.
