You hit the nail on the head there. It does come down to a general lack of respect for women. (I doubt very much that male sex bloggers get quite these same questions.) And this is why feminists like myself think there’s still a ton of work for feminism to do.

I think that, at least in my mind, the issue should never be whether or not one is “promiscuous”(stated or implied) but rather why anyone in their right mind would assume that there is some open invitation for what can politely be termed ‘harassment’.

I don’t claim to be sexually sophisticated in any way but the questions are not fair because they aren’t prefaced. In the real world (and we know the blog world isn’t…) you would at least have some degree of introduction. You don’t simply lead with some choice piece of nastiness. At a minimum, it’s impolite.

The quotes you offer above are really beyond that because they’re assuming you’re down on their level just because they associate the subject matter with it. It means more than some pervert trolling around the internet and asking you inappropriate questions or making inappropriate remarks. What it REALLY represents is a LACK OF RESPECT for women in general; you being the object of those comments or questions is merely because you’re a woman…and these writers clearly don’t assign any moral or sexual value to you (unless it’s their own sexuality that gains from it).

I would applaud you for calling them out. No human being deserves that kind of treatment. Your blog. Your rules.

Amen. I remember the first time as I came out as “kink-curious”. Immediately started getting emails asking very specific questions. How the Fuck did I know what I liked then?
