It’s been a slow week in many ways. An easier way to do the hamstring stretches is on your back. I had to start out with one leg bent up a little while bringing the other leg up, toe pointing skyward. I used one of the therapy belt/straps they have there and when I’m home I use a pilates stretchy band.
@Lilly Thanks for the suggestion about the stretching. I did a yoga routine this morning and feel SO MUCH BETTER, but I will need to keep limber to keep the pain away. Argh! You know the pain is bad when I nearly give up sex (and do pass on bdsm play).
Something that’s helped me tons with lower back pain is actually quite counterintuitive, but it does work — lie on a hard flat surface on your stomach, and start by propping yourself on your elbows, stretching very gently. If it’s a muscle spasm, it really helps the muscles to relax. You can slowly expand to pressing up on your hands and really reverse-arching your back. I do a bunch of these exercises every morning, and it really does help me manage a chronic back problem.
